Come and spend the day with us learning a reversible cable and lace technique using Euroflax linen. The lace technique will be used to create the elegant "feather and fan stole" (shown upper right) sure to be a luxurious addition to any wardrobe, designed to look good on both sides. The reversible cable technique will be used to create the "Casey", reversible large cables on both the front and back allowing the stole to look as good on the wrong side as well as the right

"The Year with Elizabeth Zimmerman at Orchardside"
Baby Surprise Jacket
Some of you know Master Knitter Elizabeth Zimmerman who wrote her chatty newsletter, accompanied by her clever knitting patterns between 1958 and 1968. Zimmerman's daughter and granddaughter have carried on with compiling and publishing her works in Schoolhouse Press.
We will have several knit-along project workshops this year using Elizabeth Zimmerman! We are going to start with her classic EZ Baby Surprise Jacket. (Did you catch the EZ part?) A couple of our knitters here at Orchardside have recently knit this sweater and were completely stumped as to what part they were working on, but as Zimmerman's pattern said..."Hang in there!" ~ They did! ~ and were delighted with the outcome! We have a sample of a not-yet-sewn baby surprise sweater in the shop or you if you click here... "SNEAK-A-PEAK" ...and see what you'll be knitting! Knitting this sweater is not difficult because it is all knitting!!!!! The few additional skills you will need you will learn in this two-session workshop. So hurry and sign up so you can join in on the big surprise!

Precious Baby Hat
Along the same line, and using Cotton Classic yarn... we are offering a class to make a baby hat, which could match the EZ Baby Surprise Jacket! The baby hat is easy-to knit on circular needles, and then to decrease near the top on four needles. You will learn many embellishments as you work along on your hat to make it your own creation.

Learn to knit ~ Continental Style
Learn this technique already used by many, but new to even more!. Learn to knit & purl in a more efficient way.....You will be amazed!!
